Description

Clinical Use: Determines viral phenotype resistance to antiretroviral drugs (NRTIs, NNRTIs, and PIs). Viral replication capacity is included.

Ordering Requirements: This test is intended for use only for patients with viral loads greater than or equal to 500 copies/mL. For best results, viral loads should be confirmed within two weeks prior to submission for testing. The results of the most recent viral load and the collection date that the viral load value was obtained are required for testing.

Handling Instructions

Outside Laboratories:

  • Centrifuge sample(s) within 2 hrs of collection and remove immediately from the centrifuge. Promptly transfer plasma to a separate plastic screw-cap vial and freeze at -20°C.
  • Indicate the following on the DLMP requisition (mandatory information for testing):
    • Patient's most recent viral load
    • Viral load collection date

Stability: Frozen (required): 14 days; Refrigerated: Unacceptable; Ambient: Unacceptable.

Receiving Instructions
