Description

Test Information: Contactin-1 and Neurofascins (-140, -155, and -186) may be ordered concurrently or as individual tests. An order for Contactin-1 includes IgG and may or may not include IgG4. An order for Neurofascins includes 140/155/186 IgG (may or may not include IgG4) and 155/186 IgM.

Ordering Requirements: Laboratory Medicine Resident (LMR) approval is required to order these tests. The preferred panel is Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyradiculoneuropathy/Nodopathy Evaluation, Serum (Sendout) to Mayo Clinic Laboratories.

Outside Laboratories: Centrifuge sample and transfer serum to a separate plastic vial. Refrigerate serum while awaiting shipment. Transport with a cold pack.

  • Send sample Priority Overnight Monday through Thursday with a completed NCL Requisition.
    • Under "Individual Antibody & Antigen Tests," subcategory "Demyelinating" on the right side of the requisition: Select "Contactin-1 (IgG ± IgG4)" and/or Neurofascin 140, 155, & 186 (IgG ± IgG4 & IgM), as indicated by the provider's order. The Contactin-1 and Neurofascin tests may be ordered individually or concurrently.
  • Saturday delivery is not available.
