SPS: The Acanthamoeba and Balamuthia species PCR test (AMBPCR) is performed by UW-MT Molecular Microbiology laboratory as of 07/2021. [[AMBPC]] is the preferred test.
- Contact that provider and communicate that this test is available in-house. Ask the provider to submit a new order for AMBPCR.
- If the provider insists on sending to Mayo, they must contact the Lab Medicine Resident on-call to obtain approval.
- LABUND orders that indicate "LMR Pre-Approval" are not valid.
