Normal <600 pg/mL Borderline 600 - 800 pg/mL Elevated >800 pg/mL Elevated values of >800 pg/mL are consistent with Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) in women either in the context of cystic lung disease on HRCT or Tuberous Sclerosis Complex.
Establishment of ranges in described in Young et al. Chest 2010; 138: 674-681.
Note that a normal serum VEGF-D level does not exclude the diagnosis of LAM.

Allow sample to clot fully. Centrifuge sample and transfer serum to a separate plastic (polypropylene) vial within 2 hours of collection. Freeze serum at -20°C.
