Anti Tetanus Toxoid

General Information

Lab Name
Anti Tetanus Toxoid by EIA
Lab Code
ATETG
Epic Name
Anti Tetanus Toxoid by EIA
Description

Anti-tetanus toxoid antibodies are raised in response to vaccination with tetanus toxoid protein. A patient’s response to immunization may be assessed by the serological determination of the anti-tetanus toxoid antibody levels using this quantitative enzyme immunoassay.

There are patients whose total IgG levels may be normal but have decreased functional activity. Testing for antibody response to tetanus toxoid may be useful in such cases, because most people have been immunized. Patients who are capable of mounting an immune response should demonstrate the presence of IgG antibodies that bind to the tetanus toxoid antigen.
