Handling Instructions

Note: Total bilirubin cannot be added on to a specimen more than 16 hours after it has already gone through the automation line and stored.

Quantity

Requested: 0.5 mL serum/plasma
Minimum: 0.1 mL serum/plasma

Receiving Instructions: Login Staff: Spin and separate serum/plasma from cells within 2 hours. Deliver specimen directly to lab.

Outside and Remote Locations: Spin and separate serum/plasma from cells within 2 hours. Aliquot in brown tube or wrap in foil to protect from light. Refrigerate.
