Vancouver Clinic: Remove serum from cells promptly to minimize hemolysis and contamination from red cells before freezing and shipping.

Preferred: 3 mL blood in RED TOP tube
Also Acceptable: 3 mL blood in ORANGE RST or GOLD SST
Unacceptable: GREEN TOP tube

Handling Instructions

Aliquot serum/plasma from spun tube promptly and store at -20C.

Minimum: 0.5 mL serum

Note: CKELP also requires a Total CK, so also login: CK. This test is ONLY used when Electrophoresis is specified. Electrophoresis is done only when the total serum CK is >34 IU/L.
