Collect FLUID in plain RED TOP tube (no preservative, no anticoagulant) and 3 mL blood in RED TOP tube (preferred) or blood in GREEN, PST, LAVENDER, or BLUE TOP tubes. Specify Fluid Type.
Note: Concurrent serum collected within 48 hours of fluid collection is desirable but not necessary
Note: If volume of fluid is difficult to collect, it may be absorbed on a swab or smallest piece of gauze for maximum saturation. - Handling Instructions
Store both at 2-8°C for up to 3 days.
