Preferred: 4 mL blood in LIME GREEN PST tube
Also Acceptable: 4 mL blood in ORANGE RST, GOLD SST, RED TOP or GREEN TOP tube
Pediatric: 1 Full LIME GREEN MICROTAINER
Unacceptable: LAVENDER TOP

Offsite Clinic or Other Locations:
Preferred: 4 mL blood in GOLD SST tube
Also Acceptable: 4 mL blood in ORANGE RST or LIME GREEN PST, RED TOP or GREEN TOP tube
Pediatric: 1 Full LIME GREEN MICROTAINER
Unacceptable: LAVENDER TOP
Handling Instructions: The Laboratory MUST process specimen, within 2 hours of blood collection.
Note: PTH cannot be added on to a specimen more than 12 hours after it has already gone through the automation line and stored.
Quantity: Requested: 1 mL serum/plasma
Minimum: 0.5 mL serum/plasma

Receiving Instructions: Centrifuge and separate serum within 2 hours.
SPS, PTH should most often be requested with Calcium (IPTHG). Please verify that order specifies PTH only!

Aliquot Rack Assignment:
UW-MT / Roosevelt / Fred Hutch: If tube is GOLD SST or LIME GREEN PST, spin and send tube to UW DxI bench. If tube is RED TOP, nest IPTH label with any other RP08 labels, aliquot and send to UW DxI bench.

Stability: 4 hrs at Room Temp; 12 hours at 2°C to 8°C. For long term store -20°C
