- CIDP/NP Evaluation (Sendout)
- Lab Code
- RCIDP
- Epic Name
- CIDP/NP Evaluation (Sendout)
- External Test Id
- CIDP
- Description
Useful For: Evaluating for chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP) and related demyelinating peripheral neuropathies.
Ordering Guidance: This panel includes Contactin-1 IgG Cell Binding Assay and Neurofascin-155 IgG4 by Flow Cytometry and is the preferred test for CIDP. To order Contactin-1 or Neurofascins individually, or to order neurofascin isoforms -140, -155, and -186, refer to separate test Contactin-1 and Neurofascin 140, 155 & 186 Antibodies (Sendout). Laboratory Medicine Resident (LMR) approval is required to send testing to Neuromuscular Clinical Lab at Washington University.
Ordering Requirements: Pre-approved for UW Medicine Neurology locations. All other ordering locations require Laboratory Medicine Resident (LMR) approval.

Reference Values:
Contactin-1 IgG: Negative Neurofascin-155 IgG4: Negative Interpretation:
Seropositivity for contactin-1 IgG is consistent with an immune-mediated demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy/polyradiculopathy.
Seropositivity for neurofascin-155 IgG4 is consistent with an immune-mediated demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy.
- Interferences and Limitations
Cautions:
- A negative result does not exclude an immune mediated demyelinating neuropathy.
- This test should only be utilized in the appropriate clinical context.
- The use of immunotherapy prior to sample collection may negatively impact the sensitivity of this assay.
