Factor XIII Qualitative (Sendout)
General Information
- Lab Name
- Factor XIII Qualitative, Rflx 1:1 Mix (Sendout)
- Lab Code
- RF13
- Epic Name
- Factor XIII Qualitative, Rflx 1:1 Mix (Sendout)
- External Test Id
- 3016927
- Description
Ordering Recommendation: Most useful if a severe FXIII deficiency is suspected (<1% of normal activity). Distinguishes between FXIII deficiency and a FXIII inhibitor. Abnormal results should be confirmed with quantitative testing. Severe deficiency may be inherited or acquired (typically due to a factor XIII antibody).
Test Algorithm: If Factor 13 Qualitative has a result of "Lysis," then Factor XIII, 1:1 Mix (Sendout) [RF13MX] will be performed at additional charge.

Cautions: False-positive results (lysis) can be caused by heparin (therapy with unfractionated or low molecular weight heparin or contamination from a line), decreased or abnormal fibrinogen, increased fibrinolysis (inherited or acquired fibrinolytic disorders), fibrinolytic drugs, or other factors that affect clot structure or stability.
