- Description
Test Information: This test detects total antibodies (IgG and IgM) to the hepatitis Delta agent.
Ordering Recommendation:
- Screening for hepatitis D virus (HDV) infection
- Diagnosing HDV infection in patients with documented acute or chronic HBV who are at risk for HDV infection
- Consider hepatitis B virus (HBV) IgM core antibody testing to determine whether HDV infection is a coinfection or a superinfection with hepatitis B virus.
Test Algorithm: If the anti-HDV screening result is positive, Hepatitis D Quantitative PCR (Sendout) [RHEPDP] will be performed at additional charge.
