The TEG 6S instrument assesses blood viscoelastic properties using resonance technology, exposing the blood to a fixed vibration frequency range upon adding calcium and exposure to kaolin, kaolin with tissue factor, kaolin with heparinase, and tissue factor with a platelet inhibitor.

3 mL Blue (Citrate) Tube. Send separate tube for this test done on whole blood.

Handling Instructions

The lab must receive this sample within 3 hours of collection. Samples can go to the OR (Satellite) lab when that is open or to the main lab.

Processing

Receiving Instructions

Samples received in the OR lab (Satellite) lab will be tested there when open. Samples received in the Main lab will remain and be tested in the Main lab.
